Commission Pricing

Once we have the approximate finished design to scale, pricing is figured by the square foot, added to a per-piece price.

The average price-per-piece will be $2 to $4 per piece.

Square footage is calculated by multiplying width x height, then divide by 144. Square foot price will be quoted at $100 to $150/sq. ft., depending upon the quality of the glass and complexity of the design.

Variables taken into consideration when determining the total cost of a stained glass project are:

Cost of glass and other materials,

The cost of the glass varies greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer as well as variances in price for color and texture. While some glass is relatively inexpensive at approximately $4-6/foot, some can be as much as $25-$45 per square foot or more.

Intricacy of the glass cuts

The price-per-piece will be based upon the difficulty of the cuts. In other words, if there are a lot of straight cuts, the cost per piece will be less than if there are a number of deep curves throughout the design.

Incorporation of bevels, bevel clusters, exotic glass, nuggets or jewels.

Foil or lead

Window shape other than square or rectangle.

Installed or free hanging

Example of Price Quote

Taking the "Moonlight Acquiescence" panel, the dimensions of the panel are 13 1/2 x 19 1/4 (1.80 sq. ft.), incorporating 62 pieces of glass. The cost of the panel is quoted as follows:

1.80 sq. ft. x $125 =	$225.59
62 pcs. @$3/pc=	+ 217.00
Total:	$ 442.59

Upon your final approval of the final design and prior to production of your commission, a 50% deposit will be required, which may be paid with your Visa or MasterCard.

Preparation for shipping and shipping costs are calculated once the item has been securely packaged and the weight and dimensions of the project is defined. The shipping cost is then added to the remaining 50% balance, due upon completion and prior to shipping.

Packing & Shipping

Shipping will be agreed upon by the buyer and Stained Glass by Judy.

The usual price for packing your piece for shipment is $25.00.

Due to the delicate nature of shipping glass, my studio typically ships via FedEx, insured, for larger panels. Air shipment is preferred to ground in order to secure safer handling. Smaller items are usually packed very securely and can be safely sent via UPS.

Shipping costs depend upon the dimension sizes of the shipment, its weight, and its destination. With this said, shipping and insurance costs will be $50 to $100 for an average size window.

Depending upon factors such as time of the year, glass availability, and project size, average delivery time is 4 to 6 weeks from the time of deposit.
